Her classmate, 23-year-old Sarafina Maluleka, also stood out, earning a special mention for her innovative project.

TUT alumni brought pride to their alma mater by earning sought-after nominations for this year’s prestigious Telkom SA Radio Awards. Among Tshwane FM 93.6's impressive 12 nominations, two are for TUT graduates who excel as content producers at the station.

The Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Performing Arts (Dance) will present Uncovering: A journey of memory and resistance, a dance theatre site-specific project that will unfold over the 16 days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (GBV) from 25 November to 10 December on the TUT Arts Campus.

The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) awarded the Institutional Lecturer of the Year award for 2023 to Prof Joseph Roberson from the Department of Hospitality Management. He received the accolade at TUT’s annual Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony, during which he also received the Lecturer of the Year award from the Faculty of Management Sciences.

Remarks on Occasion of the 2024 TUT Academic Excellence Awards

‘Do not go gentle’! With this injunction, which will be the theme of my intervention tonight, I wish to agitate against mediocrity in favour of a culture of constant innovation and an endless quest for excellence. 

About six weeks after obtaining her second doctoral degree from the University of Bath, UK, early in 2024, Prof Polly Mashigo, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Finance, teamed up with the Head of Department of Economics, Prof Mulatu Zerihun, National Research Foundation (NRF) C2-rated researcher and Dr Esther Akinbowale, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Department of Economics. The authors embarked on writing an inspirational and highly relevant book titled “Understanding and Mitigating cyberfraud in Africa”. Cyberfraud is a critical topic which poses major threats not only to the African continent but globally.
