Dr Jasna Jovićević, a Serbian art scholar, activist, and acclaimed saxophonist, is currently visiting the Tshwane University of Technology's Faculty of Arts and Design as part of a curriculum enhancement project and research collaboration with staff and students. The curriculum enhancement project is aimed at introducing Artivism projects focused on GBV awareness where she aims to encourage arts academics that their research has the potential to go much further than its parent discipline.

Created at the TUT Department of Performing Arts (DPA) as a Simulated Work-integrated Learning (WIL) production, students have been closely involved in the process – from set design to character development. Prof Karendra Devroop, a renowned jazz saxophonist and pianist as well as an experienced academic, joined the Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of Arts and Design in April as Professor in the Department of Performing Arts. In an interview, Prof Devroop said that in coming to TUT he was fully aware of the remarkable impact that the Faculty has had on the artistic sector in South Africa, and that its greatest strength lies in the fact that all departments are closely linked on one campus, making collaboration and a fully rounded arts education a possibility for students.
