Tshwane FM 93.6 concluded its 21st anniversary celebrations in style with a high-energy open-air music festival at one of the capital's iconic buildings, the South African State Theatre in Pretoria on Saturday, 25 October 2025.

The 21Fest drew hundreds of fans, alumni and artists for a day that celebrated two decades of music, culture and youth empowerment. The event formed part of the station’s year-long #UnlockTheCity campaign, which showcased Tshwane FM’s growth from a campus station at the Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) to one of the capital’s most influential youth broadcasters.

The theatre precinct came alive with two stages and performances by Tshwane FM DJs including Liquidator, Master Vee and The Capital Kingz, alongside alumni such as Given Mabunda of Munghana Lonene FM and local favourites Ennyman the Guitar, Dhino Café, Dadaman and Kermit Don Kale.

Audiences danced, waved station merchandise and sang along to hits that defined Tshwane FM’s legacy. Tributes were paid to pioneers and late colleague DJ Sumbody, whose impact remains deeply felt.

Station Manager, Tebogo Magubane (picture right)  said, “21Fest was a celebration of where we’ve been and a statement of where we’re going. Tshwane FM isn’t just a radio station but a movement that gives voice to the youth of Pitori.”

The celebrations conclude on 31 October with Tshwane FM’s participation in ACCES 2025, hosted at Propaganda in collaboration with Music in Africa, capping a milestone year of special broadcasts, documentaries and community engagement.

Audiences, including alumni, students, Tshwane FM staff and popular South African DJ's participated in concluding the station's 21st anniversary celebrations in style with a high-energy open-air music festival.
