Based at TUT’s Soshanguve Campus, TUT FM 96.2 reaches approximately 68,000 listeners across Pretoria and surrounding areas, broadcasting in six languages - English, isiZulu, Sepedi, Setswana, Tshivenḓa, and Xitsonga. With a format of 60% music and 40% talk, the station blends hip-hop, house and afro-pop with culturally relevant content, making it a sought-after platform for students and young listeners aged 15-35.

The awards also underscore TUT FM’s role as a training ground for aspiring broadcasters. Many of its alumni have transitioned to prominent roles at major South African media outlets like SABC and e.tv, proving the station’s impact on the industry. “These achievements validate our mission to combine student development with community service,” Tshelela added.

As TUT FM continues to innovate with podcasts, social media integration and mobile streaming, its success at the 2025 Community Radio Awards cements its legacy as a dynamic force in South African broadcasting.
