TUT Mbombela Alumni return to inspire postgraduates
By Mpho Manyuha
A dynamic line-up of Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) alumni who have made their mark in government, economic development, education, media and civil society, will return to the Mbombela Campus on Wednesday, 20 August 2025, to mentor and inspire the next generation of leaders.
Themed “Rooted in Legacy, Growing Through Connection”, the Alumni Connect – Mbombela Campus event will give postgraduate and final-year students a rare opportunity to engage directly with accomplished graduates, bridging the gap between academic learning and real-world impact.
Organised by the Directorate of Extracurricular Development in partnership with Alumni Relations, Student Governance and Leadership Development and Corporate Affairs and Marketing, the event will run in a hybrid format from the Mbombela Campus Student Centre and via Microsoft Teams to allow broader participation across the TUT community.
Interactive segments, including a one-minute idea pitch session, will give students the platform to share their perspectives, aspirations, and lessons learned.
The programme is packed with value — from panel discussions and career development talks to a mental wellness segment titled “Thriving, Not Just Surviving: Mental Health in High-Achieving Spaces”. Students will also explore postgraduate pathways in academia, industry, and entrepreneurship, and learn how to “Turn Your Research into Influence” by leveraging scholarly work for societal change.
The Alumni Connect series underscores TUT’s commitment to developing well-rounded, socially conscious graduates who succeed in their careers and return to uplift others.
TUT Mbombela postgraduate and final-year students are encouraged to attend and be part of this afternoon of learning, connection, and transformation.
