The Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is very proud of Bontle Moloi who earned nominations in two coveted categories at the 2025 Geekulcha Youth Geeks Awards, set to take place in Centurion, South Africa, on 26 September. Her dual recognition, announced during Women’s Month, marks not only a personal victory but also a proud moment for the Faculty - celebrating innovation, excellence and the empowerment of women in technology.

Bontle has been shortlisted for: 

    Future Leadership Award – Honouring young trailblazers shaping the tech landscape through vision and leadership. 
    Best Knowledge Transfer Geek – Celebrating individuals who actively share knowledge and empower others in the tech community. 

Bontle Moloi, who earned double nominations at 2025 Geekulcha Youth Geeks Awards

A passionate technology enthusiast and advocate for youth empowerment in STEM, Bontle is more than a student; she is a leader, mentor and community builder. With a solid foundation in Computer Science and an unwavering commitment to uplifting others, she has assisted to transform classrooms and tech spaces into hubs of innovation and collaboration.

Over the past year, Bontle has made remarkable contributions through cloud security research, hackathon leadership and digital skills training. She has served as a dedicated tutor, simplifying complex programming, web development and cloud computing concepts for her peers. Beyond academia, she has played an important role in hosting inclusive workshops, introducing learners to AWS technologies and leading projects that celebrate heritage through digital innovation.

Her initiatives have produced tangible impact, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world application, a vision that aligns perfectly with the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) and the future of digital innovation in South Africa. Bontle’s journey reflects what is possible when passion meets purpose, inspiring a new generation of youth to embrace technology as a tool for transformation.

As the Faculty of ICT marks Women’s Month, Bontle nomination serves as a beacon of hope and proof that women in tech are driving real change.
