Honouring Nelson Mandela and celebrating the 31st anniversary of TUT FM, EE Streaming, Makopo Holdings, Maluleke Spar Soshanguve Crossing and TUT joined hands to bring hope, joy and dignity to the children of Good Hope Community Centre in Slovo, Winterveld on Friday, 18 July 2025.

The day was made extra special with TUT FM broadcasting live from the centre, allowing listeners to share in the joy and compassion of the occasion. The broadcast captured the spirit of humanity and generosity that Nelson Mandela stood for.

TUT FM's live broadcast from the centre made the day even more special.

As part of the outreach, the partners donated groceries and prepared a warm, hearty meal for the children. CEO of Makopo Holdings, Kabelo John Makopo, thanked and commended TUT FM for spearheading the initiative: “With TUT FM leading from the front, putting smiles on the faces of children from diverse and often difficult backgrounds - including those from abusive and dysfunctional families - was both heartwarming and priceless. We were privileged to cook for them, spend quality time with them and donate clothes.”

Adding a professional and heartfelt touch to the day were loyal TUT FM listeners and professional chefs, Masego Sesoko and Keikantseona Molokoane, who volunteered their time and culinary skills. They took the lead in the kitchen, guiding the TUT FM team in preparing and serving lunch with love and dedication.

“It was an honour to serve alongside TUT FM on Mandela Day,” said Masego. “Cooking for the children and seeing their smiles reminded me that giving back isn’t about how much you have, but how much heart you are willing to share.”

Adding a sweet note to the celebration, Maluleke Spar donated a beautiful birthday cake, symbolising both remembrance and the joy of giving.

Reflecting on the day, TUT FM Station Manager Kedibone Tshelela said: “As a station deeply rooted in the community, we understand the importance of unity, giving, and our role in community development. We are proud to have celebrated Mandela Day not only through words, but through meaningful actions that touched lives.”
