Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) alumnus and household name in South African radio, Given Mabunda's remarkable radio journey began at Tshwane FM in 2011. At only 15 years old, he has already co-hosted the Saturday show RockaFella. Given's passion for radio started earlier at age 13, when he frequently called and sent SMS comments to the station.
This dedication led to an invitation to visit the station, which soon became a weekly routine. When a presenter didn't show up one Saturday, Given seized the opportunity to host the show.
A decade later, he has already worked at a number of prominent South African radio stations, including Capricorn FM and SABC Munghana Lonene, where he currently presents Hi Pfurha Malangavi.
Given credits TUT for his growth. “TUT raised me, I spent most of my life at TUT hosting shows at Tshwane FM.”
His lecturers supported his radio endeavours, allowing him to balance academics and broadcasting.
Although he graduated in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Given's career took an unexpected turn. “Upon graduating I went on to do radio at Capricorn FM. When I left Tshwane FM, I was a supply chain manager to be, however I haven't used my degree because of my love for radio.”

He was also nominated for Best House DJ at the 012 Hall of Fame Awards (2016-2017) and Best DJ at the Pheli Awards.
Given’s advice to aspiring radio producers: “Be yourself on radio and produce content that speaks to the people. Authenticity and understanding one's audience are vital in achieving success on air.”
Given's journey serves as inspiration to TUT students and aspiring radio professionals. His success demonstrates the value of dedication, hard work and pursuing one's passion.
Given Mabunda’s story continues to unfold. Tune in to SABC Munghana Lonene's Hi Pfurha Malangavi to experience his talent first-hand.
