The Tshwane University of Technology (TUT) and Intel have taken a significant step forward in preparing students for the future of work. Twenty-year-old TUT and the 56-year-old Intel have joined forces in establishing the TUT-Intel AI Career Tech Centre. This center will ensure that all TUT students across all TUT campuses learn the most important language of the 21st Century - the language of Artificial Intelligence (AI). The TUT-Intel AI Career Tech Centre is a first of its kind in the world.

The centre was launched on the 22nd of May at TUT's Pretoria campus, marking a significant milestone in the partnership between TUT and Intel. The launch follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on September 27, 2023, aimed at strengthening ties and promoting mutually beneficial collaboration.
In his welcome address Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Prof Tinyiko Maluleke, described Intel as the oxygen which all computers breathe and AI fluency as the ultimate cross-cutting graduate attribute of the 21st Century. He concluded by saying that “the TUT-Intel collaboration is arguably the most strategic collaboration for an institution that is confidently marching from good to great at every level, in every way”.
The Intel AI Career Tech Centre will offer a unique programme to TUT students, the Intel AI for Future Workforce programme. This will entail over 200 hours of the latest teaching learning content incorporating new AI trends.
Visitors to TUT-INTEL Career Tech Center will find various Intel AI hardware that will be utilized for hands-on and practical AI training.
