It is Dr Lillian Dube now

The Theunis Bester Hall on the Tshwane University of Technology’s Pretoria Campus was abuzz when celebrated actress, Lillian Dube (72), received an Honorary Doctorate degree from the University during one of its Spring Graduation ceremonies hosted this morning, 18 October.

Fashion Doctorate is a first for TUT

Kenyan born Ruth J L Cheluget (60) became the first person to obtain a Doctorate in Fashion Design at the Tshwane University of Technology during one of the University’s Spring graduation ceremonies hosted at the Pretoria Campus this morning, 18 October.

Academics explore alternative discourses in Arts

Leading minds in the visual arts representing universities countrywide are gathering at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Faculty of the Arts this week for the South African Visual Arts Historians (SAVAH) conference. It is the first time that the conference, now in its 32nd year, is hosted by a University of Technology.

Art Exhibition a first for TUT

In addition to their lecturing skills, many staff members at the Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Fine and Applied Arts are also accomplished artists. Now, for the first time, they are collaborating in a group exhibition at the Pretoria Art Museum, titled Art(ed), featuring work representing all three disciplines taught at the Department, namely Textile Design, Jewellery Design and Fine Arts.

The talent of 36 young student directors from the Department of Drama and Film will be showcased during the annual Rostrum Roulette Festival at the Arts Campus, from 12 to 16 June.

Drama students and alumni bag several accolades at Festival

The Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Drama and Film (Drama) returned from this year’s Grahamstown National Arts Festival (held from 29 June to 9 July) with no fewer than four accolades. Not only did its student production, Molora, bag a coveted Ovation Award, so did three productions staged by alumni students of the Department.

TUT students manage Festival from A to Z

The annual dirACTions Festival, presented by the Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Drama and Film, aims to entice audiences with this year’s theme ACTION-REACTION. dirACTions will be staged at the Rostrum Theatre, TUT Arts Campus, from 31 July to 5 August.
