Buried Voices is a contemporary and experimental re-telling of Strindberg’s Ghost Sonanta, examining certain elements and metaphors of the original text. The multi-lingual text, adapted in collaboration with Vusi Khoza, Drama alumnus, translates these ideas to a contemporary South African context. Although centred in a classical text, the production applies contemporary staging techniques.
The production is designed and directed by Drama lecturer, Karina Lemmer, in collaboration with the Department of Entertainment Technology in the areas of set production, lighting design and make-up.
Buried Voices will be performed in the Rostrum Theatre, TUT Arts Campus, 24 Du Toit Street (corner Du Toit & Struben streets), from 17 to 21 April, daily at 19:00, with an additional 15:00 performance on 21 April.
Tickets are R40 per person. Bookings at the Drama Programme, tel. 012 382 6130 or email SteynfCM@tut.ac.za.
