Within the auspices of the Post Graduate School in Electrical and Electronic Engineering (PGEEE) and in collaboration with the Department of Electrical Engineering as well as various Academic Institutions, both in South Africa and in France, F’SATI offers the following academic programmes. Each programme is associated with a defined Research Domain.

MEng by Research

This programme requires the completion of a full dissertation-based research project. The programme can be completed in eighteen months on a full-time basis, or in three years on a part-time basis. The research projects may be undertaken in industry-specified projects or projects in one of three research domains. (Telecommunications, Control and Power).

International MSc Programme (TUT, CPUT)

The International MSc programme is a joint Master’s programme that leads to the conferring of a TUT MEng in Electrical Engineering and an ESIEE MSc in Electrical and Electronic Systems, accredited by the Conférence des Grandes Écoles (CGE) in France.

The programme requires the completion of a full dissertation (MEng) managed according to TUT/CPUT requirements and the completion of MSc courses. The MSc programme requires the completion of 90 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits. 60 ECTS credits are accumulated through the MSc courses and 30 ECTS credits are accumulated from the MTech research project.

The programme may be completed in one of three possible specialisations: Telecommunications, Control and Power.

Doctorate Programmes

TUT and CPUT both offer Doctorate programmes. These require the completion of a full thesis which may be completed in three years on a full-time basis or in five years on a part-time. Research projects may be undertaken within the defined niche areas.

A Co-tutelle Doctorate Programme may be may be done at TUT/CPUT.  It affords a D Tech candidate the opportunity to work with experts from both TUT and a French university. The current French partner Institutions, based in Paris, France, include the Université Paris-EST (UPE) and Université Versailles Saint-Quentin-en Yvelines (UVSQ).
