​​​According to the memoranda of understanding, F’SATI is considered a national asset that contributes to the creation of knowledge and prosperity, as well as the transfer of technology in the Southern African region. This is achieved through the establishment of collaboration with other higher education and research institutes. The founding members of F’SATI include:

• The Chamber of Commerce and Industry Paris, CCIP (currently the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Paris-Ile-de-France); 
  
• French Ministry of Foreign Affairs;​
  
• ​The South African National Research Foundation (NRF, formerly the Foundation for Research and Development (FRD)); and
• The Tshwane University of Technology (previously Technikon Pretoria)
