Sibling becomes first benefactor of Benjamin Phehla memorial bursary
Evans Phehla, has just become the first recipient of the memorial bursary fund established in honour of his late brother, Benjamin Phehla. Benjamin died in October last year after being knocked down by a car during the #FeesMustFall protest at the Tshwane University of Technology’s (TUT) Soshanguve Campus. An emotional Evans, a first-year Computer Systems Engineering student, said he is grateful for the bursary and promised to work hard to make his family proud.

TUT Bursary and Scholarship Fund reaches the R14 million mark
The Tshwane University of Technology Bursary and Scholarship Fund has achieved another milestone in its quest to grow to R50 million before the end of 2019, following an R11,4 million injection by ABSA over the next three years into the fund. The donation was made at a function hosted at on the Pretoria Campus yesterday, 11 May, and was attended by dignitaries representing the banking giant and the University.
