The SDS Learning centre offers an English Language Development programme.
The language development programme has three main focus areas:
SDS offers an English Language Proficiency Program to help students to develop their ability to use English more accurately, and with more confidence. The program focuses on: English rules for word-usage, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, managing tricky hyphens, possessives and plurals and the 12 different tenses.
SDS offers a Readings Skills Program to help students to enhance their reading techniques, increasing their reading speed and improve comprehension in a natural reading environment. The program focuses on: Vocabulary, eye movements, memory, time passage, comprehension, word recognition and grammar.
The main focus of the writing skills programme is to teach assignment writing skills, specifically assignments done in an essay type format.
These include 6 steps to writing logically structured essays, namely:
- Analyze the question
- Make an outline
- Write your introduction
- Write the body of your essay
- Write the conclusion
- Proof read your essay
