Financial Aid



The Directorate of Financial Aid has its core business the responsibility to allocate various student funding opportunities to deserving students according to Donor specific requirements. Our goal is to ensure that eligible students across campuses have access to these funds with a transparent and equitable application and assessment process.

2010 GOALS

  • To establish a conducive environment for quality service delivery on all learning sites.
  • To ensure an adequate, competent and motivated staff component at all learning sites.
  • To improve and integrate financial aid systems and practices.

The Directorate of Financial Aid provides a highly effective system of financial support services.
The following loans and bursaries are available:

  • Various merit bursaries (academic, sport, etc.)
  • Faculty bursaries
  • Corporate bursaries
  • Government bursaries
  • Postgraduate bursaries
  • Loans allocated by the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS)
  • Edu-loan
  • Student Group Life Insurance Scheme

All the above are allocated in accordance with the criteria set by the donors.

Closing date for all new first-year students: 31 January

Admission to the University must be obtained before applications for financial aid will be considered.

Financial aid application procedure

Complete an application form available at the information desks at the various campuses. No postal application forms are accepted.
The following documentation is required:

  • Certified copy of ID
  • The income of both parents or affidavit of unemployed parents; (Income particulars will be verified and students providing false information will face disciplinary action.)
