Prof Jonathan Okonkwo, new Fellow of the
Institute of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Sciences.
Prof Jonathan Okonkwo, Rand Water Chair: Organic Chemistry in the Tshwane University of Technology’s Department of Environmental, Water and Earth Sciences, has been conferred the highest honour of becoming a Fellow of the Institute of Ecotoxicology and Environmental Sciences (IEES) in Kolkata, India. 

Prof Okonkwo’s Honorary Fellowship was awarded to him during the 2016 International Conference on Ecotoxicology and Environmental Sciences held at the Central Institute of Fisheries Technology in India.

According to the President of the IEES, Prof Badal Bhattacharya, the purpose of the Honorary Fellowship is to establish the credentials of the institute whilst honouring Prof Okonkwo for his outstanding contribution to the society through the support for the conservation of nature.

“We are honoured to have Prof Okonkwo at our Institute. The objective of the conference is to strengthen the scientists across all sectors including industry, government and academia with improved knowledge to meet societal demands for managing environmental toxicants vis-à-vis their threats in a progressive society concomitant with sustainable development.”

The conference included more than 150 researchers and scientists from all over the globe addressing major aspects of Environmental Sciences including Environmental Awareness and Education.
