Prof Toriola formed part of a delegation of international researchers and academia selected by the International Society for Comparative Physical Education & Sport (ISCPES) to present lectures promoting, stimulating and encouraging study, research and scholarly activity on comparative and international physical education and sport.
In accepting the honorary professorship from Prof Liu, President of Tianjin University of Sport, Prof Toriola vowed to promote the academic exchange of students and staff between TUT and the Tianjin University of Sport and further build on the newly-established partnership through joint postgraduate students' supervision. "As treasurer of the ISCPES for the past four years, I have been privileged to support, encourage and provide assistance to those seeking to initiate and strengthen research and teaching programmes in comparative physical education and sport throughout the world. This gesture, by the Tianjin University of Sport, is truly an honour for me and a compliment to the academic excellence cultivated by our own university," he stated.
The Tianjin University of Sport was founded in 1958 to meet the needs for Physical Education teachers, mostly in the northern part of China. The University currently offers various specialised sport-related programmes to more than 6 000 students.
